that was perfect!
electric wire in the small run-in shed ? might cause streß in paradise. Do not misunderstand me, everthing else is really brilliant and a paradise with happy horses..
I understand your concern, but no, no stress at all from the electric wires in the shed 👍. They are there to prevent the horses from pushing their butt against the shed walls 😉.
@@Gydjulind yes, I see the benefit of not leaning a ponies buts against the wall- still , if it is narrow in there and may be crowded, someone might easily touch the whire - anyway it is up to you what you do on your property. However someone who sees the video might copy the idea, witch I still think is not so nice. I feel standing that near to a loadet whire is not relaxing and maybe more sensible horse doesn't dare to seek shelter in there.
@@discoshepard well… reality shows that it has never been a problem here, for 25 years. And people should never copy someone else mindlessly, right 😉? Every situation and every horse is different. I don’t pretend to be THE expert, I just share what I do and what works for me and my horses ❤.
💓💗💓❤💔
How many round bales to u need to purchase per horse per year?
Love this!!
I love it getting two horses and a donkey soon. Trying to figure out a design for dry paddock and pasture.
Wonderful to see so many natural behaviours. I could watch them all day. Very soothing ! So i'm new to track turn out, so wondering if/when they get to graze the bit in the middle and what you do with that bit ! Is that saved for hay making ? Or do they get some limited time just in there ? Or do you sometimes move the track boundaries to allow them to graze a strip ?
Hi Claire, I can reply ‘yes’ to all of your questions, but it all depends on the horse, the amount of available pasture surface, the season, the weather, etc. etc. This video is a few years old and meanwhile we have doubled the size of our paddock paradise, which means we now have enough pasture to both let our horses graze and to make hay in summer as well. At the moment we have a herd of five; three 30+ aged horses, who get as much grazing turn out as possible year round because they need it, and two 20 yr old mares, who are both of the insulin resistant type (one of them even laminitis prone), who have very little pasture turn out, actually none at all during the past year since they were both quite overweight (Icelandic horses can be quite difficult to manage food-wise). After a year of feeding these two a limited amount of hay they are both in perfect condition now. We’ll have to see how to go from here with them; perhaps with a little bit of grazing time this coming spring/summer, with some added hay, we don’t know yet. It’s a matter of always keeping an eye on the individual needs of each horse. The BIG advantage of the paddock paradise system is that even when they are not allowed to graze, they are still able to roam around the tracks, find some hay and other little bits to eat here and there and have a good time. Much better than feeling bored in a small paddock! You can also find videos of the later addition to my PP on my channel. Best wishes, Mai
@Gydjulind thank you so much for your reply - I'll def look at the other video. I hear you re Icelandics - their breeding enables them to live through an Icelandic winter - I swear they thrive on lava rock, lichen and tree bark ! I used to work at an Icelandic Horse yard and rode a British Champion ! Used to make me laugh how the fouler the weather, the more game and forward going they would become. Seemed to particularly enjoy horizontal sleet ! Such fantastic horses, but yes, ridiculously 'good doers' to a fault !
Can't love this enough!!
Thanks for sharing. Lucky horses. Very inspirational 🇮🇪🍀💚
And not a one has a stupid blanket/rug on! They don't need them. Great Video! I recommend it to so many people.
Thank you for your compliments 🙂. I’d like to say something about blankets: you don’t see any of my horses wearing one in this video, because they were all healthy at the time. I do not agree with your statement that blankets are stupid though. One of the horses in this video (the red chestnut) eventually died at the age of almost 41. During his last years he started suffering from cold, wet weather, which made him shiver and tremble, have rain rot patches on his skin and lose weight quickly. So we gave him a waterproof blanket, which gave him visible relief. My opinion about blankets: when a horse doesn’t need them, don’t use them, but when they suffer from cold and rain, a blanket can relieve their suffering tremendously. I call that good love and care ❤. Nothing is just black or white, it all depends and there’s a time and place for everything. Best wishes, Mai
Thank you so much for the tour. I wanted to grab a lawn chair and just follow your heard all over the place. What an Edenic place.
Thank you for your kind words!
This is an awesome video highlighting the amazing benefits of track living 😊💕👍🏽
Thank you, Ursula!
He looked stunning even in his last years! What a beautiful healthy horse. What a gift to have such horse so many years at your side.
What tress other then will is safe for surrounding the track , how did you build your all weather surface , so lots of questions 🤭
I don’t know about all the ‘safe’ trees, so you would have to do a bit of research on the internet about that. We have willow, oak, birch and elder trees. The willows are the only ones we planted ourselves. I did not build an all weather surface; we are lucky enough to have natural high and dry sandy soil on this plot.
Fantastic how wide is the track
It’s between 2 and 2,5 metres wide, which is more than enough for our ponies.
Just lovely! Thanks for sharing your track with us!
My pleasure 😉👍!

Just stumbled onto this video. Super use of space. Now I'm confident that 2 or 3 acres is plenty of room for two horses if done right.
For two horses that would absolutely be enough space. Have fun designing ;-)!
They are so beautiful! Does anyone ride them or are they to small?❤️❤️❤️
They’re certainly not too small to be ridden and they all have been ridden in the past, but we don’t ride them anymore, so the horses are retired 🙂.
This truely is a paradise 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😁
Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
My one weird dream is to be on a horses back while it's just relaxing in the pasture and just sees where it goes. I'll keep an eye out for any crazy movements on lie downs. ETC. I think it would be fun, relaxing being on a horses back in the wild!!
This track system was the inspiration for my own, love it! We have had it for about 2 years and the benefits for your horses; good overall health, always available limited pasture grazing, excellent feet, muscle development...
I thought it was gonna be jet powered... :(
Lost track of how many times I have watched your video - just lovely and so peaceful. Can you tell me what the horses were eating from the waterhole? Looks a bit like tiny floating clover.
They were eating duckweed. Thanks for letting me know how much you enjoy my video 🙂.
How fun!
Thanks! It was fun to watch it again myself just now ;-)!
Super
How many horses do you have all in all?
Five at the moment.
Gydjulind cool keep them coming! Hehe
How much land do you have?
@@chicoringler the paddock paradise shown in this video is 2.5 acres. Meanwhile we have a second paddock paradise of another 3 acres, which is connected to the first one through a 250 metre wood track. There are more videos on my channel.
Gydjulind so the whole property is 5.5 acres with everything in it?
Dear Gydjulind, how I can call or write to you?
wonderful, thank you for this great job and your creative inspire.
Thank you for your kind compliment ❤️.
This video is inspirational, thank you for sharing.
Hi, how big is the pond? How deep is it? I would be very happy to receive an answer. Nice greetings from germany. :)
The answer depends on the season; during wintertime there’s much more water in the waterhole than in summer, so it’s much bigger and deeper then. What I can tell you is that we had it dug out about 60 cm below groundwater level (groundwater was at 140 cm below ground level), measured in august (which is usually the dryest time of year). This was to make sure there will always be water in the waterhole. The paddock where the waterhole is is approx. 30 x 30 m in size; because that is a bit small we had to make part of the banks of the waterhole steeper than the rest and fence that steep part out, so the horses cannot destroy it by trying to climb it. The slope of the steep banks is 1:1. The other part of the banks, where the horses can approach the water, have a 1:4 slope. The track bordering the steep banks is about 2,5 m wide. Perhaps all this information will give you an idea of the measurements 😉.
@@Gydjulind Thank you very much for your quick reply. You helped me a lot with that. :)
Do you have instagram or facebook where I can follow the horses living in your paddock paradise? It's so beautiful and I wish you got some more love on your channel because this is amazing! <3 hope you see this
To be honest, I hardly make any videos these days and if I do, I don’t share them with the whole world. But nevertheless, thank you for your kind compliment ❤️!
Your horses need forage.
Just what we want to do! 😊
This is so great, thankyou for sharing
Thank you!
Brilliant, really is a horse paradise :-)
Thank you!
One of my favorite hymns. Peaceful videos.
How wide are your tracks roughly?
2,5 metres
@@Gydjulind Thanks for answering about track width. What type fencing did you use? I assume it's electric...coated wire or rope? What posts did you use? Any bracing necessary?
@@susanneandmingus yes, electric fencing, 1 m high, with 3 strands of thin rope (Gallagher Vidoflex 9), wooden posts (180 cm, of which 80 cm in ground, which makes them sturdy enough to do without bracing). This all goes for the interior track fence. The exterior fence is higher (around 150 cm), has 4 strands of electric wire; wooden posts, railroad ties in the corners.
How big is your main pasture and how big are the strip grazing sections?
Hi Jeff, the pasture is around 5000 m2 in total. Each strip section measures around 750 m2 (50 x 15 m) and the distance between fence posts is about 5 m, so each time the strip ‘moves’ 5 m ahead.
Wat een supermooie PP!!!!!! ♥
